Caulry GAA is a community-focused club based in Athlone, Westmeath, supporting players and coaches across all levels of the organisation. With a strong emphasis on athletic development and long-term performance, the club identified the need for an upgraded performance space that would elevate training standards across the entire club.

Apollo Fitness was tasked with designing and delivering a multi-purpose gym environment capable of supporting group training, individual development and structured strength and conditioning, while remaining durable, efficient and aligned with the identity of the club. 

THE GOAL BEHIND THE SPACE

The goal behind this space centred on creating a versatile performance facility that could handle high volume use, support multiple training styles and provide a clear, organised layout that maximises both space and performance output. The team wanted a space which improved training capacity and allowed players and coaches to train in a structured, high-performance gym. The main requirements included strength training for both group and individual sessions, conditioning equipment for team-based work, a durable multi-use layout, clear zoning, and finally strong brand identity and customisation.

THE TRAINING ZONE

At the core of the gym are back-to-back half racks, forming the foundation of the strength training  zone. Each rack was fully customised with branding, bespoke uprights and custom name plates, reinforcing a strong club identity while delivering a professional training environment.

The space is supported with a full range of dumbells, barbells, plates and training accessories, allowing for structured strength programming across the entire squad.

Conditioning is driven by a selection of Concept2 rowers and SkiErgs, providing scalable options for team-based fitness work, interval training, and conditioning sessions.

To support lower body development and injury prevention, the gym includes a SHUA leg press alongside a SHUA leg extension and leg curl combo, giving coaches targeted options for strength and rehab-based work.

A custom-sized turf track anchors the functional area, creating space for prowler work, drills and general athletic conditioning.

Integrated storage solutions ensure the gym remains clean, organised and efficient during high-volume use, with equipment positioned to support smooth transitions between training zones.
